I got my set about a year ago and have been playing with it, taking lessons since then. And… the kit is amazing for my level of ability. I’m just now starting to wish I had real cymbals so that I can choke them manually, but I hope that provides a bit of an idea how far one can go with these.I found the heads to be remarkable and just amazing feeling. The kits that are built in allow me to investigate different sounds and kinds of beats while staying in the same small space. The trigger on the kick drum needs some love, though. As another user mentioned, this is a problem and you’ll eventually have to deal with it. I bought some piezo’s here and will replace them when they die completely, but this should not be the solution for a buyer of this set. Alesis should isolate the piezo better to minimize the additional impacts they suffer on the kick. All in all I’d very much recommend this kit.I play with headphones and I can go hear the tune in my head anytime day or night. That’s hugely important to me since I get stuff stuck in my head and I need to hear it.The kit wasn’t hard to put together, and it’s very much a personal feel so that’s fine.I love that the Surge module has 2 additional connections for another cymbal and tom, but these can also be used and programmed to be whatever you want. So I 3d printed a cowbell and put a clamp on violin mic (just a piezo in a case) on it for those BOC covers 😀

I got this set with the expansion pack which was well worth it to me (the 4th Tom has a rim effect that sounds a bit like a tambourine and the second Crash has a different sound than the standard one.)It was relatively easy to put together but in the end it took me 8 hours to play around with things to get them to where I wanted. Then theres the wires which they don’t show in the product images…The drum heads are solid but small, especially the snare. The Kick drum basically needs 20+ pounds backstopping it or to drill the base into something. The frame is pretty sturdy but the two shorter end posts will tend to lean in for me (I did put more than intended on them and only have two Toms on the front bar. (I’m going to put something to lock the rubber bottoms of the rail stand in place.)The choke feature on the Crash & Ride Cymbals is a little sketchy. Theres about a 2” section dead center on the edge that controls it but if you miss the exact spot, no Choke which may not be the end of the world but is annoying when you expect it to work like grabbing a regular Cymbal only to find you were slightly off.Another plus is that it’s easy to fold the sides in and pickup and move. It’s surprisingly light while still sturdy overall. The components to setup each head or Cymbal all have three points of adjustment for tons of control. I would try to get it setup how you want it in terms of height, spacing, angles etc. before running the cables and the leave enough slack to make adjustments without having to reconfigure any cables.Because I knew I would have to screw the Kick pad into something I set up the set on a piece of 2’ x 4’ plywood which is great with something underneath to protect the floor which then allows you to slide the set around easily.I’m very happy with the set and the only additional thing I’ll get ag some point is a double-base pedal. This is a perfect set for a beginner and with the expansion pack it really looks impressive with four Cymbals and four Toms.Overall, great set for a beginner or anyone who doesn’t want to spend $3k plus on a professional digital set.

100% recomendado!

Sounds great! Super easy to navigate the control module. Only gripes.. directions for stand setup is crap! You literally have to kinda guess you’re way through it and match up the pictures to the part. Also could be more user friendly module instructions..I figured it out but some might find it confusing. All in all for the money and the sounds this produces.. it’s great! Would def recommend! Get the STRIKE not the nitro..10 inch snare and bass drum is double bass ready… you’ll thank me later!

To start: Flexible kit, for beginners to seasoned drummers. Wired cabling is labelled and makes sense. Rack setup is ok, make sure the connections are tight ; ) . The controller (drum module) has many functions, so read the manual carefully and understand the capabilities of it! Beginners will get a learning experience with playing along with preset songs and styles of music. I loved the setting for hearing the drums played, and without (trying yourself). Recording yourself and listen to the results another plus. Metronome function a BIG plus (critical for beginners to learn btw). The mesh heads and the cymbals are an upgrade from older type of kits that were flat rubber pads. Can even do Snare rimshots !These are some of examples of the kit’s capabilities I’ve covered. There’s more to discover as well. On an advanced level I have Midi’d the drum module and used sounds from another Alessis drum module from years ago.The sound quality is great for the cost of the kit. I’m especially impressed with cymbal sounds and the included kick pedal. Enjoy playing this without worrying about noise. I bought this because my acoustic kit is heard my the neighbors and I’m not risking the hassle from them.

I like everything about this set. It comes with velco straps to clean up all the wires as well.

  7. Evan Blaine

Good electric kit for the price. Not the best drum sounds out of the module. I’m running it through Steven Slate Drums in Pro Tools so it sounds pretty sweet when applying it that way. Would buy again

I was apprehensive to purchase this at $450 with so many negative reviews about malfunction, lack of Alesis support & high cost to replace parts. When it went on sale $80 discount & I also had a promo credit I ordered. Sure glad I did this kit is awesome. I play guitar & never played drums but I’m already bustin beats & feel I’ll be getting good in no time. Having a blast recording into Reaper multitrack recordings. 10 year old grandson played drums first time ever & this kid is going to be a pro. We recorded our jam session & I keep listening to it stunned how good it sounds both this kid & the Alesis. I noticed alot of complaints about low volume output. When I plug into my line inputs on my interface the sound is very low. I have to plug into the guitar input which makes it much louder. Sound is also loud when plugged into my Sony stereo amp. So running through some amplifier helps alot. So long as this unit holds up & keeps doing what it’s doing for at least some good years then this would be one the best purchases I ever made.

  9. Patricia Ann

I bought these drums for my husband for Father’s Day. I wanted to make his life a little bit easier for him. He loves them! He did however buy a couple of pieces to add to the set. He is very happy with them.

  10. Kenneth

I love this drum set! First time going electric and I was a little skeptical but it met my expectations. The nitro mesh feels so real. Everything sounds great, except for the snare drum, but it can be arranged by modifying the reverb and other sound functions. Also, it might take some time to assemble but nothing out of this world.
